When the world went on various levels of quarantine in 2020, everyone just scrambled. Scrambled for food, scrambled for toilet paper, even scrambled for places to live. But one of the main things people had to find was things to do while stuck indoors.
But the lockdown lasted longer than initially thought, and eventually, after watching everything there was on Netflix, people had to get creative with entertaining themselves indoors. Celebrities are no different, and they got pretty creative and, maybe even a little desperate with their efforts. From growing beards to discovering grey hair, this is what celebrities got up to during lockdown.
Kelly Ripa – Grey Hairline Watch

When things were normal, Kelly Ripa worked every day. She hosts "Live! With Kelly and Ryan," while also running a production company called Milojo with her husband, Mark Consuelos. But with everything, including film productions, coming to a halt during the lockdown, Ripa didn't have much to do.
She must have gone loopy. Because she decided that, to entertain herself and the masses who follow her on Instagram, she would reveal that she was grey under all that blond. To prove it, she took a before photo, and then eight weeks later took an after photo. The after photo revealed grey roots. Ripa served as a producer on the 2021 film "Exhumed."
Kevin Hart – Confessions From The Hart

Despite his comedy credentials, Kevin Hart has a heartfelt side to him, and it came out while he was on lockdown. He started an Instagram video series called "Confessions From The Hart," and it centered around things like him making peace with his grey hair.
One story he told was about the time he got fired as a lifeguard. He saved a boy from drowning, only to be told off because the boy was playing. Then the same boy was actually drowning, but Hart delayed his reaction because the boy might be playing, and got fired for it. Hart had his own show called "Hart to Hart" in 2021.
Jim Carrey – Inspired Hair Growth

You know in the film "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls" where Ventura retreats to a monastery, depressed after losing his monkey? Did you notice that despite being depressed and in a monastery he doesn't have a beard? That's because Jim Carrey doesn't do facial hair.
It's unclear whether that is a rule or just a happy coincidence, but during the 2020 lockdown, Jim Carrey decided to go off-brand and grow a beard, even starting a challenge in the process. Carrey promised to let his beard grow until people could start going to work again. He appeared in a documentary called "Val" in 2021.
Will Smith – Rocks A Beard

He may be the "Fresh Prince," but Will Smith doesn't mind growing a beard, especially for his film roles. Some of his high grossing films including "Pursuit of Happyness," and "Aladdin." This is the way he answered fans on Instagram after they noticed that he was growing a beard and quizzed him about it.
He reassured them that there was nothing unusual about it. He even posted a digitally altered image of him during his "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" days with a salt and pepper beard, illustrating how long he's been wearing a beard. He rocked one for the 2021 film "King Richard."
Jonathan Van Ness – Grooms Himself

Jonathan Van Ness is best known for being the grooming expert on the Netflix show "Queer Eye." he also has a role on the web series parody "Gay of Thrones." As a grooming expert, he knows a thing or two about shaving his face. He is even renowned for his facial hair, which usually involves some sort of mustache.
But with lockdown, Van Ness must have gotten bored and decided to change his look. That's because he shaved off his mustache. He looked like a completely different person and showed off various facial expressions in his new look on Instagram. He did voice work on the 2021 series "M.O.D.O.K."
Blake Shelton – Striped Mullet

Country music and the mullet hairstyle go together perfectly. Many of the genre's top acts, from Billy Ray Cyrus to Tim McGraw, wore it. Hell, even James Hetfield, vocalist for the heavy metal band Metallica had one and has a thing for country music.
Another country music superstar who famously had a mullet is Blake Shelton. He cut it off but, during the lockdown, he decided to grow it back as a symbol of hope to his fans that this will pass. Not content with being left out, his partner, Gwen Stefani, added a little rock n roll element to it by cutting stripes into the sides.
Gabrielle Union – Mother-Daughter Twinning

Keeping ourselves entertained as adults is one thing, but keeping children entertained without leaving home is a completely different challenge. Their attention span isn't the highest and at some point, they require human interaction. But it appears that Gabriel Union discovered something perfect to keep her daughter occupied.
Union and her husband, NBA star Dwyane Wade's daughter, Kaavia, was born via surrogate in 2018. One thing she did to keep Kaavia occupied was to give both her and the child matching hairdos and take selfies. Union featured in the 2020 show "L.A.'s Finest."
Taraji P. Henson – DIY Makeover

Renowned for her stylish roles in shows like "Empire" and "Think Like A Man," Taraji P. Henson is always looking her best. This is true even when the role isn't a stylish one, like in the reboot of "The Karate Kid" and "Date Night." So what's a stylish girl meant to do when she can't go anywhere?
She gives herself a makeover, that's what! In Henson's case, she dyed her hair bright red and shared photos of various ways of wearing the look on her Instagram page. The look survived the lockdown and she even wore it to a few major events. She served as a presenter of the 2021 Primetime Emmy Awards.
Nathan Fillion – DIY Haircuts

In his roles as Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds on "Firefly" and Richard Castle on "Castle," Nathan Fillion gained a reputation for his clean-cut look and neatly combed strands. But as time passed and roles changed, so did his hair, as the makeup teams on the films and TV shows he worked on did their magic.
But during the quarantine, the bored Fillion decided to show off his haircutting skill on Instagram. But instead of pictures of himself, he shared pictured of his strands in the sink. He also took the razor to his face and shared photos of his experiments. He starred in 2021 episodes of "The Rookie."
Ben Schwartz – Hair Overgrown

While Nathan Fillion was cutting his locks, and Jim Carrey was growing his beard, "Parks and Recreation" alum Ben Schwartz was growing his hair. It appears that Schwartz was trying to channel Sonic from "Sonic the Hedgehog" with this look. Although his look was a little more 'bed' than spiky.
Schwartz is of course no stranger to voice work and has also voiced Leonardo in "Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and Dewey Duck in "DuckTales." Of course, voice isn't all he does, and has starred in films like "The Walk," "This Is Where I Leave You," and 2021's "Flora & Ulysses."
Anderson Cooper – DIY Bald Spot

Anderson Cooper wasn't entirely confined to the house during the lockdown. The CNN anchor who hosts "Anderson Cooper 360°" in 2021, was allowed to work at the "flash studios” in Hudson Yards office complex in New York. This was because the venue allowed them to be alone in a room during broadcasts.
But while the DIY studio was available, the hair and makeup team were not, and also the hairdresser was closed. This meant that Mr. Cooper had to go DIY with his grooming. However, as per a tweet by former NBC executive Mike Sington, Cooper failed with a DIY haircut and left a bald spot on the side of his head.
Armie Hammer – Manifest Tiger King

For a guy born into wealth with a businessman for a father and an oil tycoon for a grandfather, Armie Hammer is doing pretty well as an actor. Some of his most notable films include biopics like "J. Edgar" and "The Social Network" where he played a pair of twins.
He is so into acting, he couldn't leave it behind even while stuck at home during the quarantine. Channeling his inner Tiger King, Hammer sported a curly mohawk and handlebar mustache in a lockdown photo that caused quite a frenzy. Hammer eventually grew the mo away but kept the tache for a while longer. Hammer featured in a 2021 film called "Crisis."
Val Chmerkovskiy – Let The Wife Have Her Way

The two-time U.S. "Dancing With The Stars" winner Val Chmerkovskiy is obviously quite the dancer. Besides winning the TV dance contest twice, Chmerkovskiy is also a two-time World Latin Dance Champion and a 14 time U.S. National Latin Dance champion. Another victory for him is his marriage to a fellow dancer Jenna Johnson.
But while he bosses everything on the dance floor, at home, Jenna rules the roost. This was made crystal clear when Chmerkovskiy shared a post on Instagram with the caption “I love my wife, so I let her give me a haircut.” He obviously loves her, but that doesn't mean he has to let her give him a haircut!
Oprah Winfrey – At Home Barbershop

For Oprah Winfrey, A quarantine doesn't have to be a quarantine. If she wanted, she could probably have snuck in her hairdresser, had them sanitized, gotten a haircut, and sent them on their way. But she likes to play by the rules and, despite her $2.5 billion net worth, keeping it real with the rest of us.
She did however have a mini barbershop at her house during the quarantine. Her partner, Stedman Graham was in charge of doing the haircuts, and the 'victim' was a graduate of Oprah's Leadership Academy named Thando Dlomo, who lived with them. Winfrey served as producer on a show called "Queen Sugar" until 2021.
Paulina Porizkova – DIY Coloring

Paulina Porizkova was a pretty popular model in her heyday. She became the first Central European stunner to make the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. She also earned what was at the time the biggest contract in modeling history, when Estée Lauder paid her $6 million to sign on in 1988.
But that doesn't mean she knows how to dye hair, although that didn't stop her when she got bored during the lockdown. She showed how important the makeup team is since she colored her strands grey. She vowed to go back to brown. Here's hoping she waited for the hairdresser to be open again.
Dua Lipa – Pink Hair

Dua Lipa is one of the more flamboyant pop stars on the modern scene. As such, she is renowned for being a little over the top with her image: from her makeup to her dress sense and even her hair color. This however makes hits like "Physical" and "Break My Heart" stand out even more.
But for her, dying her mane pink is a new one. She did this as one of her quarantine experiments and detailed the rest of her lockdown achievements as well. These include joining World of Warcraft and doing facetime workouts with her friends. She made Tim magazine's Time 100 Next list in 2021.
Blake Lively – Betting On Ryan

Things must have become very fun in the Reynolds-Lively household when the lockdown was announced. They are well known for their quirky personalities, especially Reynolds when he channels his inner Deadpool. Lively is also note too bad on the comedy front having starred in "Accepted" and "New York, I Love You."
So together they must have made life fun for their three children. Some of their quarantine stories include trying to prove that Reynolds's hair can go be made into a ponytail. They succeeded... in a sense, managing to get a small portion into a scrunchy ponytail. Reynolds didn't sport this style in the 2021 film "Free Guy," however.
Emily Ratajkowski – DIY Haircut

Everyone was worried about having enough food, booze, and things to watch on Netflix. But no one thought about what toll a quarantine would have on the body. Most notably the skin may benefit from minimal sun exposure, but may also suffer from lack of fresh air.
Emily Ratajkowski was one person whose complexion suffered because of the lockdown. She even had to switch up her skincare routine to deal with it. One of her secret weapons was snail mucin, which is a strong product for skin repair and incredibly moisturizing. In 2021 she appeared in the "Savage x Fenty Show Vol. 3 TV special."
Sarah Michelle Gellar – Pretty Pink ‘Do

Sarah Michelle Gellar has come a long way since her time in "Buffy The Vampire Slayer." She has starred in films and series like "Cruel Intentions," "The Grudge" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer." The latter is where she met her husband, Freddie Prinz Jr. with whom she spent the lockdown.
They must have been making one another feel young again because Gellar decided to change the color of her hair. She also didn't make it any old color, opting for a bubblegum pink while posting pics of it all over Instagram. She did some voice work in the 2021 series "Masters of the Universe: Revelation."
Bruce Springsteen – Wife Haircut

Bruce Springsteen is known as The Boss. Here is an example of why he is known as The Boss: According to guitarist Tom Morello, who toured with the E Street Band, says Springsteen will start playing a song, and the rest of the band will just have to follow his lead.
But at home, Springsteen's superior is his wife, Patti Scialfa. She learned to cut hair from celebrity hairstylist, Chris McMillan... by observing him. She tried her hand at it during the lockdown and used her husband as her guinea pig. She didn't do too badly judging by the picture. Springsteen performed a tribute in honor of 9/11 in 2021.
Salma Hayek – Peeks Of Gray

Salma Hayek is a popular actress renowned for her roles in films like "Desperado," an Oscar-nominated performance in "Frida" and 2021's "Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard." Renowned for her looks, and always lauded for her performances and her natural yet sultry beauty, she also appears to be into aging naturally.
At least this is what it looked like when she posted a selfie on Instagram during the lockdown. In it, there were visible gray hairs, and she was unapologetic about them. Her caption for the post even read "Be proud of your roots."
Katy Perry – Home Shoot

Katy Perry must have had one of the most challenging quarantine periods imaginable. She was pregnant in 2020 and had to deal with all of the cravings and mood swings while being stuck at home unable to go anywhere. At least she still had "American Idol" to keep her busy.
The reality singing contest, which was revived by ABC after initially ending, worked on a remote basis in 2020, with contestants and judges recording all of their segments at home. It was challenging for the show, which was already running on budget cuts. She had her baby in August 2020 and released a song called "Electric" in 2021.
Vanessa Hudgens – Brigitte Bardot Impersonation

We're no expert when it comes to entertaining ourselves at home. But we're pretty certain dressing up and impersonating idols and icons could take some time out of the day. Although we don't know if you can impersonate icons when you are one!
We're certain Vanessa Hudgens knows whether that is possible or not. She spent some of her quarantine time dressing up in various outfits and posing for selfies. In the image above, one can see her channeling her inner Brigitte Bardot with her sultry expression. Hudgens starred in a 2021 movie "Asking for It."
Taylor Swift – Cozy With Wine

With $400 million in the bank and a string of hits to her name, Taylor Swift probably deserved a break from the hustle and bustle of the music business. So she must have welcomed the change of scenery and chance to just slow down and take it all in for once.
Swift already had plans for 2020, and they went off without a glitch. This included a surprise double album, the first disc called "Folklore" while the second one is called "Evermore." This is why she could spend her lockdown with a glass of wine just chilling on the couch. Swift received the Global Icon Award at the 2021 Brit Awards.
Kylie Jenner – Flaunts Her Style

Kylie Jenner is a model and entrepreneur. Renowned for her beauty and fashion sense, at the core of her brand, is her appeal as an icon. So it makes sense that, at a time when she couldn't leave home, she decided to start making her daughter Stormi aware of the importance of style.
Photos like the one above of her and the child in matching outfits were common during this period. The simple crescent moon print popularised by fashion designer Marine Serre was also popular during that period. Kylie's sister Kendall and even Beyoncé were also seen in the design. In 2021 Kylie was pregnant with her second child.
Eva Longoria – Bright Orange

One thing many people struggled with during the lockdown was maintaining their regular grooming and style routines. Of course, many people believe that because they're not leaving home, they don't need to look their best. For actress Eva Longoria, that was absolute nonsense.
She of course gained fame for playing the ever-stylish Gabby Solis in the iconic show "Desperate Housewives." Like her character, she kept it stylish throughout the quarantine, always looking her best and sharing it on social media. She also had looked stylish for her part in the 2021 film "Tell It Like a Woman."
Cindy Crawford – A Beauty In Blue

Cindy Crawford doesn't need much to look her best. Even in this image, you can see how she make jeans, a button-down top, and a scarf look like she's showing off at New York Fashion Week. But alas she was at home, although maintaining the runway glam that made her a superstar.
The background of that photo looks like she was proving another point. That lockdown meant at home, but not indoors all day. It looks like she's been spending some time in the sun getting some fresh air. She appeared as a guest in the 2021 "F.R.I.E.N.D.S" reunion called "The One Where They Get Back Together."
Selena Gomez – Cozy At Work

Selena Gomez is one of those celebs whose work didn't stop happening because of the lockdown. Besides singing and acting she has a number of side hustles that keep her busy during this period. She is also a producer who has worked n shows like "13 Reasons Why" and has several endorsements.
These are for companies like Sears, Adidas, and even Louis Vuitton. It's unclear whether this is her working space, or whether she didn't have a home office and made the floor her working space, but she looks pretty comfortable where she is. She had a role in 2021's "Hotel Transylvania: Transformania."
Lea Michele – Gets A Baby Bump

One of the main things people needed to do to survive the quarantine was to keep busy. While some kept busy, others did some 'getting busy,' and as with this picture of Leah Michele, there are consequences to those actions. Not that it matters to her because she is more than capable of taking care of a baby financially.
But it's not just about her $14 million net worth. She seems genuinely infatuated with her bump in the picture and is also getting some much-needed vitamin D in her garden. In 2021 Leah Michele appeared in the TV series "The Broadway Show with Tamsen Fadal."
Bella Hadid – Working From Home

Many people and companies had to get clever about keeping the work flowing during quarantine. While working from home became the new normal, there were some employers and employees that didn't connect with the whole work from home vibe. Some studies even revealed that it was detrimental to productivity.
But Bella Hadid proved that all wrong by showing that even a model can work from home. She set up a home photoshoot with lights, reflectors, and the whole nine, and even shot the perfect selfie which would probably have made the cover of Vogue if it was an option.
Tracee Ellis Ross – Glamming Up

Another home photoshoot, this time in the home of actress Tracee Ellis Ross. She decided that the backyard was the perfect place to do the shoot. Ellis Ross, the daughter of Diana Ross, is renowned for her role in the series "Girlfriends," and "Black-ish."
She is also an adept singer, who starred in and sang the soundtrack for the musical film "The High Note." But she seemed to be going for a different career path with this shoot, channeling her inner model for this Instagram shot. She featured in a 2021 episode of the series "The Premise."
Jenna Dewan – Mommy Time

When Jenna Dewan was pregnant with her second child, conceived with actor Steve Kazee, she must have had big plans for her little man. Then the lockdown happened and she had to keep him indoors, protecting him from potential sickness, but preventing him from experiencing the world.
While she may not have been able to show I'm the world, she could still show him to it. She did this with Instagram posts like the one in the picture. Little Callum features regularly on mom's Instagram feed, which also sometimes featured daddy too. In 2021 Dewan had a role in "The Rookie."
Kourtney Kardashian – Spread Awareness

Believe it or not, there were people out there who didn't take heed and stay indoors for the quarantine. Some of them needed a little nudge to follow the rules, and it was big-time celebrities like Kourtney Kardashian that had to give it to them.
For Kourtney, she even went as far as supporting her ex-husband Scott Disick's "Talentess" clothing brand to get her message across. It was a simple message too: Stay Home, which was the whole point of the lockdown in the first place. She also wore matching sweatpants to go with it. Kardashian started dating drummer, Travis Barker, in 2021.
Emma Roberts – Campaigning For Social Distancing

Emma Robert also decided to share a message. She chose social distancing as the theme for her message. Although, it must be said that the point of staying home is to social distance! Nevertheless, the star of shows like "American Horror Story," which she features in for the 2021 season, and "Scream Queens" chose to bring her message across in an imaginative way.
Mirroring the Alice in Wonderland story, Roberts's Instagram post sharing her message included multicolored text on her T-Shirt. It read "Don't Stand So Close To Me," with her holding a croquet mallet on a croquet field. All she needed was a smiling Cheshire Cat to complete the setting.
Halsey – Red Polka Dots And Freckles

Halsey is renowned for her constantly evolving look that has included power suits, ball gowns, revealing attire, and various hairstyles. This includes dying her hair in multiple colors and even having it braided and at some point shaven off. But with all of that effort put into her look, it's refreshing seeing her with no color products.
She shared a no-makeup photo during the lockdown, showing her flawless skin and gorgeous freckles. It turns out she loves going without it. Her skin regimen also includes cleansing, especially at night after shows, and using serums. She release her fourth album in 2021 titled "If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power."
Megan Thee Stallion – Discovers The Comforts Of A Ponytail

Megan Thee Stallion is another music star who is often extravagant with her hairstyles. The rapper, who has released top ten records like "Fever," "Suga" and "Good News," is also well known for wearing her tresses in various era-specific styles from the '20s right through to the '70s.
But in a rare occurrence, while quarantining, Megan opted to go with a simple ponytail and admitted that she liked it. Not that it's on-brand for her stage persona, but she did vow to wear it for the duration of the lockdown. She won four BET Awards in 2021, the most for the year's ceremony.
Lena Dunham – Strawberry Cloud

The best thing about being at home is that you can romp around in your birthday suit, or whatever is comfortable for you, without fear of judgment. Of course, Lena Dunham, who is famous for an uncomfortable kissing incident with Brad Pitt in London is renowned for dressing comfy, if not a little over the top.
For this quarantine picture, she may have been a little heavy on the comfort side with this spacey outfit. But it's also nice and subdued, although Dunham seems to think she looks like a "strawberry cloud." In 2021 she appeared in "The Drew Barrymore Show."
Busy Philipps – Finds An Old Concert T-Shirt

Busy Philipps has the right name for the job when it comes to surviving a long quarantine period. All she has to do is keep busy and occupied daily! But the star of films like "White Chicks" and " He's Just Not That Into You" may have gone a little overboard.
She reached a point where she and her mom were going through her old stuff. That was when her mother came across this old Debbie Gibson concert T-shirt from when Busy went to see the artist live. It must have brought back memories of her and a group of friends, kind of like 2021's "Girls5eva" a series she starred in.
Rita Ora – Wears An Attention-Grabbing Top

Singer Rita Ora is renowned for her often flamboyant, but always sultry looks. These have not only made her the complete package but also attracted the attention of many male suitors. But it appears that the sultry dress sense she portrays for her public appearances isn't just an act.
She seems pretty comfortable in it at home too and showed this off with her quarantine images. This image shows her keeping it simple with leggings New York Yankees cap and a crop top. She also appears to have an expansive vista in the background, which is some view. In 2021 she had a role in the film "Twist."
Hailey Baldwin – Chilling In The Tub

Maybe Hailey Baldwin is that one celebrity who finally cracked and went crazy while on quarantine. This must be why she's taking a photo in a bathtub, with a flannel shirt on. She should know that's not how a person takes a bath, and so should her husband, Justin Bieber.
But this was all about the art... and having fun during the lockdown. There were a few other photos taken, which were pretty good, taken by Justin himself. It turns out he developed a thing for photography. Hailey meanwhile made an appearance in 2021 episodes of "Dave."
Bella Thorne – Bright In Blue

Bella Thorne has come a long way since her Disney channel days on the dance-themed show "Shake It Up." She has matured since it ended in 2013, and also rebranded herself as a sultry female symbol. This has come through in series like "My Own Worst Enemy," and "Forget Me Not."
During the lockdown, she experimented with her image and did everything from coloring her hair to getting a tattoo. Between her mane and her top, she was showing different shades of blue... although there was nothing blue about the photo since her expression is one of contentedness. She had a role in the 2021 film "Time Is Up."
Haim – Sister Snuggles

Being in a band is like being with family. But it helps even more when your band comprises family. That is the case for Haim, the American pop-rock band comprising of three sisters: Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim. They have been making music together since they were young and started out as a cover band.
since they have been together since they were kids, it makes sense for the three sisters to quarantine in one house. This photo serves as a symbol of how close the sister is, even though quarantining may have tested their bond. In 2021 they embarked on a headlining tour called "One More Haim Tour."
Molly Sims – Half And Half

Have you ever seen the one about the newsreader who is all business at the top, but when he finished his bulletin and gets up, reveals he is in his underwear at the bottom? Actress and model Molly sims so pulled off that trick with this photo of her on a Zoom meeting.
Okay... so she wasn't in underwear, but she was rocking that business in the top bedtime in the bottom look. This is a perk of meetings from home via Zoom because anything below the chest is out of view. Sims had a small role in the 2021 film "Yes Day."
Millie Bobby Brown – Puppy Love

It's hard to believe that Millie Bobby Brown first gained our attention and applause as a 12-year-old child with a shaved head in Stranger Things. She has matured over the years, but not so much that she doesn't want to cuddle a puppy. Come to think of it, this was probably a nice companion to have while on quarantine.
But getting a puppy isn't the only thing Brown did during the lockdown. She also got her driver's license and acquainted herself with another popular TV show, "F.R.I.E.N.D.S." She starred in the 2020 film "Enola Holmes" and also had a major role in 2021's "Godzilla vs. Kong."
